About

What is GenAI Lab?

Hello fellow educator, researcher, technologist or designer. My name is Safinah Ali and I am a PhD student at MIT Media Lab. I have designed several creative AI learning materials, with collaborators across MIT, which I maintain for educators on this website. Everyone is impacted by AI in their daily lives and in their workplaces. It is critical for everyone to have a fundamental knowledge of AI and to understand AI's potential for good and harm. The GenAI Lab will jumpstart your readiness for AI and give you the tools you need to prepare for the AI-enabled world.

The GenAI Lab, designed by Safinah Ali in collaboration with MIT educators and experienced facilitators, features hands-on and computer-based activities on AI concepts, ethical issues in AI, creative expression using AI, and how AI relates to your future. You will experience training and using machine learning to make predictions, investigate bias in machine learning applications, use generative adversarial networks to create novel works of art, and learn to recognize the AI you interact with daily and in the world around you.

You are free to use these materials for non-profit organizations and educational institutes. These materials have critical contributions from teachers and students across the globe, in the form of co-designed ideas, feedback and data from students. Teachers and educators are valuable contributors in this project, and their inputs have made the curricula classroom-ready.
